MARGAO: The Konkan Railway Police confiscated 347.5 kg of questionable red meat, misrepresented as goat meat, valued at Rs. 1,04,250. The shipment, which was being transported from Belagavi to Margão on the Goa Express (Train No. 12780), was found abandoned near the Parcel Office.
Veterinary and health officials have determined that the meat is not suitable for human consumption. A case has been initiated under the Goa Animal Preservation Act and Railway Act. Authorities are conducting an investigation to trace the source and reveal the specifics surrounding this illegal consignment.
The seizure raises alarms about the illicit trade and transport of unfit meat in the area.
