MARGAO: A 35-year-old man from Fatorda, originally from Dodamarg, Maharashtra, died after collapsing during an evening run near PJN Stadium, Fatorda, on September 24.
The deceased has been identified as Prasad Parith. According to police, Parith had gone for his routine walk and run around 8:00 pm after consuming shevpuri. While running, he reportedly felt giddy and began vomiting. He then contacted his friend, Akshay Madwal, who, along with others, rushed him to South Goa District Hospital, Margao. However, the medical officer on duty declared him brought dead.
Police conducted an inquest panchanama, and the body was referred for post-mortem examination. The police surgeon reserved the final opinion on the cause of death pending chemical analysis of viscera but noted evidence suggestive of pancreatitis and pulmonary edema.
The body was later handed over to the family for final rites. Further investigation is being carried out by LPSI Sukhada Prabhudessai of Fatorda Police Station.
