MARGAO: A 36-year-old labourer from Uttar Pradesh was found lying unconscious near Railway Station Road, Margao, on Sunday night and was later declared brought dead at South Goa District Hospital.
Police identified the deceased as Avdhesh Nath, who was reportedly a chronic alcoholic and employed as a labourer in Margao. He was shifted to the hospital by a 108 emergency service at around 10:26 pm, where doctors declared him brought dead.
An inquest panchanama was conducted, and the body was sent for post-mortem examination. Police said the autopsy confirmed the cause of death as bilateral lobar pneumonia in a person with haemorrhagic pancreatitis and fatty liver disease. The body was later handed over to the family for final rites.
Margao Town Police have registered the case as an unnatural death (U.D. No. 56/2025) under Section 194 of the BNSS. Further enquiry is being carried out by PSI Shubham Gaunkar.
