VASCO: A 37-year-old man, Sachin Dhananjay Naik, resident of Taribhat, Borim, Ponda, tragically lost his life after falling from a height of 15 meters while exploring the rocky terrain of Mottar/Grand Island. The incident occurred on Sunday evening as Naik and his friends were walking in the area to watch the sunset.
According to the Harbour Coastal Police Station, the mishap happened when Naik’s left leg slipped on the rocks, causing him to fall into a rocky cave and sustain multiple injuries. He was rushed to the Cansaulim Health Centre, where he was declared brought dead by Dr. Nashville, the Medical Officer on duty.
The police registered a case of unnatural death under Section 194 of the BNSS following the receipt of a letter from the health centre. An inquest panchanama was conducted, and Naik’s body has been preserved at the District Hospital, Margao, for further procedures.
The tragic incident has sent shockwaves through Naik’s hometown, where he was known as a vibrant and cheerful individual.
