PANAJI: Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services has said that a total of 386 samples of the backyard poultry, ducks and migratory birds were collected and sent to National Institute of High Security Animal Disease, Bhopal for conducting Avian Influenza tests.
“The Department conducts Avian Influenza Surveillance of the backyard poultry and other birds during winter season when birds migrate to Goa. This year a total of 386 nos. of Samples of the backyard poultry, ducks and migratory birds were collected and sent to National Institute of High Security Animal Disease, Bhopal,” said Minister for Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services Mauvin Godinho
He further said that veterinary Officials at field level and Forest Officials were informed to keep check on unusual mortality if any and inform the same to higher ups and Disease Investigation Unit.
“The Department has appointed 01(one) State Nodal Officer, 02(two) District Nodal Officers and 02 (Two) Rapid Response Teams (for North Goa and South Goa District respectively) for Avian Influenza/Bird Flu,” said Godinho
