CANACONA: The 38th and 39th Houses constructed under Shram-Dham concept of GLA Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar are handed-over to the two widow beneficiaries of Amone (Poinguinim) at the hands of recently elected Goa BJP President Damu Naik on Saturday.
Constructed ground plus One storey, due to paucity of land at the existing old house partly with mud walls and without a door, almost broken and lying in most dilapidated condition due to the financial crunch of the two families (8 members) living together, until it was taken up for construction by GLA Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar under his ambitious Shram-Dham concept.
Finally, the houses, 1 2-storey concrete building, the ground floor for Shalini Gaonkar and her family and the upper storey for Madhuri Gaonkar and her family, who husbands were brothers (late) as the 38th and 39th houses built under the Shram –Dham concept.
On the sidelines of BJP’s Canacona Karyakarta’s Melava slated later Saturday evening at Molyma Resorts, Kindlebhag, these two houses were inaugurated and keys were handed over to the two women of the house (Shalini and Madhuri Gaonkar) at the hands of Goa State BJP President Damu Naik in the presence of Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar and Poinguinim Sarpanch Savita Ramesh Tawadkar, and the presence of Shram-Dham warriors (Wearing T-Shirts having a picture of Ramesh Tawadkar with the words ‘Dev Manus’ inscribed on its back-side) who helped in constructing the house. Poinguinim panch Mahesh Naik, Canacona BJP Mandal president Prabhakar Gaonkar, and others.
State BJP president Damu Naik lauded the innovative and personnel scheme Ramesh Tawadkar, in helping out families not having proper shelter over their heads. ‘ Your MLA and our Speaker has now gone overboard, and besides extending his Shram-Dham scheme to other parts of Goa, is now constructing 3 houses for the disaster affected people of Waynad(Kerala)’, Naik said in his speech.
Tawadkar said, he is doing all this on the strength of his karyakartas and said he’ll keep helping out more and more needy people not only in Canacona, but wherever the need arises..
Later, speaking to media, Shalini Gaonkar, said her pitiable condition where 8 members of the family used to live in the disastrous four half mud-walls and without even a door came to the notice of our MLA and he swiftly took up construct this modern house with bedrooms, kitchen, entrance hall, verandah, with electricity and water connections and amenities. Tawadkar Sir is really a God sent man to us- Dev Manus’.
