PANJIM: The third accused in the Margao jeweler owner’s murder case Mustafa Sheikh today surrendered before the police.
The other two accused were arrested by the Goa Police Crime Branch in a midnight raid hours of the crime.
“He surrendered before the police followed by formalities for his arrest was made. A trap was laid but he managed to slip and surrendered before the Margao police.” Sources said
Sources further said that “They were in touch with Marcelino, so he might come under the scanner of the police. Involvement of more is being probed”
Crime Branch team led by police inspector Dattaguru Sawant handed over the two accused – Omkar Patil and Edson Gonsalves to Panjim police.The accused were handed over to Margao police.
Last evening the shocking death of the Margao based 35-year old Swapnil Walke had sent investigating agency on a massive manhunt as such the police claims to have recovered weapons used to commit the crime.
The Margao police have so far recovered one country-made pistol with magazine, one empty cartridge, and there live rounds alongiwth a knife.
Contrary to the preliminary investigating which said the jeweler died due to multiple stabling, the police now confirmes that the deceased was shot before stabbing.
