MARGAO: The 3rd monthly meeting of the District Water & Sanitation Mission (DWSM) for South Goa was held under the chairmanship of Ramesh Gaonkar, Additional Collector-II, South Goa, in the presence of Narayan S. Tirvenkar, Member Secretary, DWSM.
Officials from various departments including Health, Agriculture, Forest (RFO), Water Resources (WRD), Information & Technology, Directorate of Panchayats (DOP), BDO offices, and DDPS attended the meeting.
During the deliberations, the Directorate of Panchayats presented details of pending works at the panchayat level and informed that continuous follow-up is being taken to ensure the effective implementation of the Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0.
It was also informed that a memorandum has been issued by the DOP to all Village Panchayats to appoint two women members for the constitution of Village Water and Sanitation Committees (VWSCs) under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen).
Additionally, it was decided that training sessions will be conducted for women members on water testing procedures once the committees are formally constituted.
The Chairperson directed all concerned departments and officials to adhere to the decisions and ensure timely implementation of the outlined directives.
