OLD GOA: The 3rd State Level Conference for School Heads on “Reinventing Education in School” was held at St. Joseph Vaz Spiritual Renewal Centre, Old Goa in collaboration with the State Council of Educational Research & Training, Goa.
The inauguration of the conference took place at the hands of Shri Prasad Lolayekar, IAS, Secretary of Education in the distinguished presence of Shri Shailesh R. Sinai Zingde, Director of Education and Rev. Fr. Henry Falcao, Rector of Spiritual Renewal Centre, Old Goa.
Shri Prasad Lolayekar in his address expressed the role of the Heads of the institutions should be to impart knowledge for life and urged them to provide the child with an experimental learning in the classroom. Shri Shailesh R. Sinai Zingde also emphasized on the use of Embibe.
Parakh and Byju’s app that would enhance learning. Later, Rev. Fr. Henry Falcao addressed the gathering and also welcomed the Heads of the institutions and wished them well at the conference.
Sr. Liberata Fernandes, the President of G.H.A. welcomed the delegates and briefed the audience about the significance, aims and objectives of the conference.
The Programme commenced with a Prayer Service led by Mrs. Esmeralda Mendes e Fernandes, the G.H.A. Taluka Representative of Salcete, followed by the lighting of the lamp. Vote of thanks was proposed by the G.H.A. Secretary, Mrs. Mable Da Costa. Mementos were presented to the special invitees and dignitaries. The programme was compered by Mrs. Evelet Antao.
Later in the day, educative and motivational sessions were conducted wherein renowned speakers like Rev. Fr. Roland Coelho S.J., Provincial of Jesuits presented a topic, ‘Reinventing School Education: Preparing Leaders for Positive Change.’ Shri Manoj B. Sawaikar, Asst Director of Education, presented an informative session on the topic ‘Micro-Teaching at School Level’ while Smt. Afshan Khan, Asst. Prof., G.R. Kare College of Law, Margao, spoke on POCSO Act.
Bhagirath G. Shetye, Chairman of Goa Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education, also interacted with the Heads on the latest Board circulars and recent trends as per NEP 2020.
He was shared about the introduction of ‘Health and Wellbeing’ as a new academic subject from the academic year 2023-24 onwards besides other new subjects. It was an interactive session where the Heads of the institutions got their queries answered. Mrs. Sonali Patankar deliberated on ‘Responsible Netism.’
