MAPUSA: In a significant development, Mapusa Police have detained four including 4 minors in connection to the bold burglary at Nasnodkar Jewellers in the Mapusa municipal market.
The accused were apprehended from Sindhudurg, Maharashtra, as a result of prompt police intervention and concerted scrutiny.
Early on Monday morning, a group of criminals stormed into the well-known jewelry store and stole a sizable amount of gold and silver jewelry.
Goa Police conducted a thorough investigation to find the perpetrators after the break-in. Knowing that the suspects might have escaped over state lines, a special team of officers was sent to Maharashtra.
The team’s inquiry took them to Sindhudurg, where they were able to track down and apprehend the four thieves. Two of the four suspects who have been arrested, according to police sources, are children.
The accused is currently being escorted back to Goa by the police for additional questioning and legal proceedings.
Mapusa Police have confirmed that further investigations are underway, with efforts focused on recovering the stolen jewellery and identifying any additional individuals who may have been involved in planning or executing the burglary.
The swift action by the Mapusa Police has been lauded by local residents and business owners, many of whom were alarmed by the audacity of the robbery.
The arrest of the four suspects marks a significant success for the police department, which had faced mounting pressure to solve the case given the high-profile nature of the crime.
