PANAJI: Minister for Cooperation Subhash Shirodkar said that 40 persons in co-operative sector who are involved in misappropriations have been permanently disqualified.
“Government has already permanently barred over 40 people from the cooperative sector for their financial mismanagement involvement, and this practice will not stop in the future,” said Shirodkar.
He further said that it is a deterrent to those involved in financial irregularities in the cooperative sector.
“Efforts are on to refund deposits of depositors and recover loan dues from customers of three credit co-operative societies including Mashel Mahila Co-operative Credit Society, Ashtagandha Co-operative Credit Society from Bicholim and Visionaries Co-op Credit Society by December 2024,” he added.
The minister also said that his department will find out their assets and dispose them off if possible,” he said.
“Criminal cases have been filed against those involved in bogus loan rackets, he added.
Shirodkar also said that the cooperative department has set a deadline to recover maximum loan amounts from defaulters. He also hinted that he has an idea to re- vive the Mapusa urban bank as cooperative credit society in the future.
