MORMUGAO: In a significant move to address frequent power failures in the Sainagar area, Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar, along with key officials, inaugurated a new 400 kVA transformer on Thursday evening . The event was attended by Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Chairperson Girish Borkar, Ward Councillor Ameya Chopdekar, MMC Councillor Deepak Naik, and other local representatives.
The installation of the 400 kVA transformer replaces the outdated 200 kVA unit, which had been unable to handle the increasing load, leading to frequent power disruptions in the area. The upgrade is expected to stabilize the electricity supply, alleviating the challenges residents faced due to power outages.
Speaking at the inauguration, MLA Krishna Salkar expressed his gratitude towards Minister Sudin Dhavalikar and the Electricity Department for their prompt response to the local community’s long-standing demands.
“The installation of the new transformer, coupled with the provision of additional street lights, would significantly improve the quality of life for Sainagar residents.This new transformer will solve the issue of power failures in the area, and the sanctioned street lights will enhance safety and visibility,” said Salkar.
Local residents have welcomed the initiative, expressing hope that the improved power infrastructure will bring an end to the frequent disruptions they had been enduring. The inauguration marks a positive step towards enhancing essential public utilities in Vasco.
