Margao: A 41-year-old man was found hanging at his residence in Gauliwada, Fatorda, on Wednesday morning.
Police said they received a phone call at around 9.33 am from an unknown person informing that a man had allegedly hanged himself at his house. Upon enquiry with family members, it was revealed that at about 6.30 am, the daughter of the deceased went to her father’s room and found him hanging from a wooden beam using a surgical dressing bandage as ligature material.
She immediately alerted her grandfather, Auduji Langote, and other family members. The grandfather and brother of the deceased brought him down and informed the police and 108 emergency services. The 108 staff examined him and declared him dead.
The deceased was identified as Jitendra Langote (41), a resident of Gauliwada, Fatorda. Police conducted the inquest panchanama and referred the body for post-mortem examination at South Goa District Hospital.
The police surgeon conducted the autopsy and certified the cause of death as “asphyxia as a result of hanging.” The body was later handed over to the family members for final religious rites.
