PANJIM: While claiming that 42 percent of the deaths in India are from Maharashtra, Former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today said Covid-19 situation in Maharashtra is very grim.
Fadnavis also said that RT-PCR is the only golden method for testing.
The former chief Minister of Maharashtra was on courtesy visit to meet to Goa Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant.
“The situation is very grim in Maharashtra and the Covid cases are rising very rapidly. The situation is serious. 42 percent of the total deaths in India related to Covid are from Maharashtra.” said Fadnavis speaking to the media out Sawants official residence
He said, “Out of total 78,711 COVID-19 tests done on August six, 50,421 were antigen tests (64 percent) & only 27,440 were RT-PCR (34 percent) 850 tests using other methods. This ratio has to be 1:1 & not 1:2.”
Fadnavis said that due to 65 percent failure rate of Antigen testing, RT-PCR is only considered as golden method for testing.
The fomer Maharashtra Chief Minister was in Sindudurg to inuagrate a Covid19 lab after which he came down to Goa to pay a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant before taking a flight back to Mumbai from Goa International Airport.
