CURCHOREM: A 42-year-old labourer was declared dead after being brought to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Kakoda, Curchorem, on January 19, 2026.
As per police sources, at around 11.55 am, the medical officer of CHC Kakoda informed police that Ranthu Mahto (42), residing near Apollo Pharmacy in Curchorem and originally hailing from Gumla district in Jharkhand, was brought to the health centre by a 108 ambulance in an unresponsive condition and was declared dead on arrival.
Police visited CHC Kakoda and conducted enquiries with Balchandra Naik, who identified the deceased as his labourer. An inquest panchanama was carried out, and the body has been preserved at CHC Kakoda for further medico-legal formalities.
Further enquiry into the incident is being conducted by PSI Prajyot Bakhale of the Curchorem police station.
