CANDOLIM: A 45-year-old resident of Candolim died after reportedly experiencing sudden breathlessness while asleep in the early hours of Saturday, February 15, 2026.
According to police sources, Prashant Kumar Khuntia, originally from Kendrapara district of Odisha and currently residing at Sainagar, Aradi in Candolim, was rushed to the Primary Health Centre at around 2:41 am after he became uneasy and unresponsive at home.
Family members told police that Khuntia had been sleeping when he suddenly complained of discomfort and difficulty in breathing. He was immediately taken to PHC Candolim, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Based on the medical memo received from the health centre, police initiated inquest proceedings. Officials stated that preliminary enquiry has not indicated any foul play.
The body has been preserved at the morgue of Goa Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.
