CANACONA: A 47 year old woman from Agonda ended her life by jumping into a Well late in Canacona.
According to Canacona police, information was received from 108 emergency service staff that one lady jumped into the well near her residence at Agonda late Saturday evening.
Police visited the spot and noticed the body of the woman- Jovita Miranda lying inside the well, and thereafter the lifeless woman was taken out from the well with the help of Fire Brigade staff of Canacona Fire and Emergency Services and shifted to CHC Canacona by 108 ambulance. The doctor on duty at CHC declared the lady brought dead.
According to sources, taking advantage of rains, the woman taking umbrella along without anybody’s knowledge slipped out from house at dusk hours and proceeded to the well situated a few metres away, before taking the extreme step to jump into the well. Some people noticing the umbrella near the well, peeped into the well (used by the locals) out of curiosity and saw the woman in the well and raised an alarm, before alerting the F&ES, police.
Police informed that Jovita Miranda, aged 47 was not keeping in sound health for the last 10 years and was taking specialized treatment in government speciality hospital.
Police conducted inquest panchnama over the dead body and preserved it at SGDH, Margao for their medico legal formalities . Police registered UD under section 194 BNSS 2023 and further enquiry is in progress with PSI Ajith Velip of Canacona Police Station.
