CANACONA – A 48-year-old man from Honavar in Karnataka is found hanging from a tree at Chaudi on Thursday evening.
Canacona police identified the body as that of one Ashok Anant Naik, 48 years old and resident of Honavar, Doddamanekeri, Uttar Kannada, Karnataka identified from the Aadhar Card and Covid doses certificate found in a bag on the body.
According to sources, the man wearing a T-shirt and Green colour short-pant was noticed hanging from a tree located behind an old and unused/closed Talkies after someone from the area noticed the body and informed the police.
Canacona police retrieved the body with the help of Fire Service personnel and sent the same for preservation and postmortem to District Hospital, Margao. LPSI Rifa Barretto conducted the panchanama before dispatching the same to District Hospital Margao.
According to sources, Canacona police have already contacted the deceased’s family.
According to sources, the victim takes the extreme step on Thursday afternoon, using a nylon rope as a ligature. No suicide note is found on the spot, whereas a new pair of chappal, some clothes and some usable items were found in the bag, added the sources.
