CALANGUTE: Three-time Calangute MLA Michael Lobo said that a 4×4 Fire vehicle on the long coastline is a must due to teh frequent fire incidents.
He said that the Tourism department has to ask the Fire department to station a vehicle on each beach stretch.
“Upon my requisition, a file was moved by Ashok Menon last year, and it awaiting financial approval. We have taken up the issue with the CM,” he said.
He said the fire vehicles on the beach are the need of the hour.
“We have seen several incidents. There is high salinity; there will be a short circuit, and with strong winds, fire spreads wildly. If there is the 4×4 fire brigade vehicle, 70 p.c can be saved,” he said.
Lobo further said a file will be moved tomorrow to provide help under CM’s Relief Fund.
“We will try to give maximum support through CM Relief Fund,” he said.
