CALANGUTE: Calangute Police has arrested 5 persons on charges of mobile theft.
Calangute Police Station received a phone call from one Karthik Sandeep, r/o n/o Uttar Pradesh informing that some unknown person had snatched his mobile phone.
Accordingly, Beat, and LIB staff of Calangute Police Station left to verify the incident and, after developing the information, succeeded in apprehending a group of five accused persons, namely Ram Bhowmick, Anil Ramu Rathod, Sanjeev Singh, Sunny Saho and Yogesh Devania Surat all n/o Karnataka.
All the above-accused persons were staying in one hotel at Panaji, and from them, the stolen property of the complainant, along with 09 other mobile phones and broken pieces of gold chain, has been recovered.
The entire property recovered is worth Rs. 5 lakhs approximately. All the above-accused persons have been detained, and further investigation is in progress.
Further investigation is in progress under the supervision of PI Dattaguru K Sawant and SDPO Porvorim Vishwesh Karpe under the overall supervision of SP North Nidhin Valsan, IPS.
