VASCO: A 50-year-old woman, identified as Sarita Naik Adpaikar from Baina, was found hanging at her residence on Wednesday afternoon.
Police said they received a call from the woman’s brother, Dayanand Naik, at around 1.06 pm on October 1, informing them about the incident.
During enquiry, it was revealed that Sarita had been under distress following the demise of her husband and due to her son’s health condition. On September 30, she was not responding to phone calls. The next morning, her brother visited the house, and after opening the latched door through a window, he found her hanging from a ceiling fan with a dupatta.
The scene of unnatural death panchanama and inquest proceedings were carried out, after which the body was sent for post-mortem. The police surgeon certified the cause of death as “asphyxia due to hanging.”
The body was later handed over to the family for final rites. Further enquiry is being conducted by LPSI Priyanka Patil of Vasco Police Station.
