MARGAO: Margao Town Police have registered an unnatural death case after a 53-year-old man from Cuncolim was found dead in an alleged hanging incident.
Police said that on March 24, 2026, at around 11:45 pm, information was received from South Goa District Hospital (SGDH), Margao, that Manoj Naik Dessai, a resident of Murida, Cuncolim, was brought dead by a 108 ambulance in a suspected case of hanging.
Following the intimation, police conducted the occurrence and inquest panchanama over the body and referred it for post-mortem examination at SGDH, Margao. The police surgeon who conducted the autopsy certified the cause of death as “asphyxia as a result of constriction of neck”.
After completion of medico-legal formalities, the body was handed over to the family members for final religious rites. Further enquiry is being conducted by LPSI Aanushka Parab of Margao Town Police Station.
