Valpoi: Poriem MLA Dr. Divya Rane has urged women to take advantage of government welfare schemes to achieve self-reliance, while distributing Ladli Lakshmi approval letters to 57 beneficiaries at a function in Keri.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Rane said the BJP governments at the State and Centre have implemented numerous initiatives to empower women without discrimination. She stressed that while financial assistance is being provided, women should aim to become self-reliant rather than rely solely on government aid.
The Ladli Lakshmi Yojana, she noted, reduces the financial burden on parents for their daughter’s marriage. “In the coming months, around 100 women from the constituency will benefit from the scheme,” she added, thanking Women and Child Development Minister Vishwajit Rane and Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant.
The event, held at the Forest Rest House in Keri, was attended by Keri Panchayat Deputy Sarpanch Usman Syed, Thane Sarpanch Nilesh Parwar, and panchayat members from various villages. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the timely assistance ahead of the Chaturthi festival.
