VERNA: A 57-year-old casual labourer from Cortalim was declared dead after being brought to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Cansaulim late on Thursday night. The deceased, identified as Bijlee Singh, originally from Bihar, was employed with Marine Electricals at IDC Verna.
Police said the Medical Officer at PHC Cansaulim alerted them after Singh was brought in unconscious and declared dead on arrival. During enquiry, police spoke with Amrendra Singh, the deceased’s son-in-law, who said he received information on the evening of 3 July 2025 that Singh was feeling unwell. Later, around midnight, he was informed that Singh had fallen unconscious in his room at Consua. He was immediately shifted to PHC Cansaulim, where doctors confirmed his death.
An inquest panchanama was conducted over the body, which was then referred for post-mortem examination at South Goa District Hospital, Margao. The autopsy, performed by the Police Surgeon, determined the cause of death as “subarachnoid hemorrhage consequent to ruptured berry aneurysm.” The body was later handed over to the family for final rites.
Further enquiry is being carried out by PSI Mahesh Bhomkar of Verna Police Station.
