Margao: A 58-year-old man from Colva collapsed and died while attending a prayer service at the Holy Spirit Church in Margao.
According to Fatorda Police, the deceased, identified as Joseph Philip Rodrigues, had visited the church with his sister when he suddenly collapsed during the prayer. He was immediately rushed to South Goa District Hospital (SGDH) by the Robot 32 emergency service vehicle, but was declared brought dead on arrival.
Following standard procedure, police conducted an inquest panchanama and referred the body for a post-mortem at SGDH. The autopsy, performed by the Police Surgeon, confirmed the cause of death as “Cardiac Tamponade consequent to cardiac rupture, in a person with history of chronic hypertension.”
The body has since been handed over to the family for the final rites, while further inquiry is being conducted by PSI Satvashil Devidas of Fatorda Police Station.
