CUNCOLIM: A 59-year-old man from Balli died after he was attacked by a wild boar while working in a forested cashew plantation on Sunday evening.
Cuncolim Police said they received a message from PHC Balli at 9:56 pm on December 7, informing them that the victim, Ram Gaonkar, a resident of Bendurdem, Balli, had been brought in dead.
During enquiry, his brother Ramesh Gaonkar and son Satendra Gaonkar told police that Ram had gone to the nearby forest to clean their cashew plantation when a wild boar suddenly attacked him.
He was later found lying unconscious by family members, who rushed him to PHC Balli, where he was declared brought dead.
The body has been preserved at South Goa District Hospital, Margao, for medico-legal procedures.
