VERNA: In a shocking incident, a six-year-old child, a resident of Zorint, was killed after being hit by a speeding car near BITS Pilani on Wednesday evening.
Sources in Verna Police said that the child was crossing the road near BITS Pilani towards the residential area of Zorint when the mishap occurred.
“A Skoda car ( GA 08 M 8586 ) was being driven by Kapil Betgiri ( 42 ) and moving towards Dabolim’s side and gave dash to the deceased child while he was crossing the road, thereby causing him grievous injuries,” a source said.
Sources also said that the child was shifted to the Chicalim SDH but succumbed to his injuries and was declared brought dead.
Verna police have registered an offence under section 27, 304 ( A ) of IPC and PSI Desai is carrying out a further investigation under the supervision of PI Diago Gracias and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Salim Shaikh.
