SANKHALI: A 60-year-old man was arrested on Monday afternoon after he was allegedly caught accepting money bets in a public place near Tourist Hotel at Market Sanquelim.
According to the complaint lodged by ASI Sumant Gaonkar of Bicholim Police Station, the incident occurred around 11:30 am on December 8. The accused, identified as Rajendra Arjun Gawade, a resident of Virdi, Sankhali, was allegedly found accepting betting amounts from members of the public in an open area.
Police said they seized ₹910 in cash in various denominations, along with other gambling articles, from his possession. Gawade was arrested the same day at 12:51 pm.
Further investigation is being carried out by ASI Gaonkar of Bicholim Police Station.
