QUEPEM: A 65-year-old woman from, Quepem, succumbed to burn injuries while undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, on Thursday.
Police said the deceased, had sustained burn injuries at her residence while lighting an oil lamp (diya). Her saree reportedly caught fire accidentally, leading to severe burns.
She was admitted to GMC Bambolim but passed away on September 4 while under treatment. An inquest panchanama was conducted, and a post-mortem revealed the cause of death as septicaemia due to deep thermal burns, compounded by seizure disorder and psychiatric illness.
The body was later handed over to her family for final rites. Enquiry was conducted by PSI Siddesh Naik of Quepem Police Station.
