CANACONA: 66 people were examined at the heart disease and diabetes screening camp organized by the Canacona Patrakar Sangh jointly organized with Imperial Hospital, Margao.
Well Known cardiologists Dr. Milind Desai and his team diabetes, blood pressure and E.C.G tests, before providing medical advice and the needy were advised to further conduct free of cost ECHO and Stress Tests at his hospital in Margao.
The inauguration ceremony of this camp was attended by Canacona Municipal Council Chairperson Sara Shambha NaikDesai, Councilor Hemant Naik Gaonkar, Dr. Milind Desai, Canacona Patrakar Sangh President Babesh Borkar, Secretary Subhash Mahale, Vice President Bernard Fernandes, Dheeraj Kankonkar, senior journalists Ajit Painginkar, Devidas Gaonkar, Narayan Desai, Harishchandra Kholkar. The camp was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by CMC Chairperson Sara Naik Desai, councilor Hemant Naik Gaonkar, Dr. Milind Desai and his colleagues.
Speaking on the occasion, Sara Naik Desai stated that the journalists of Canacona are not only engaged in journalism but are also aware of the health requirements of the people. ‘ Such quality camps are very much needed in Canacona, otherwise Canconcars have to go all the way to Margao to get their heart related ailments examined. Earlier too, they have brought awareness in society by organizing health camps and cricket tournaments. I will extend all the possible cooperation to the work of the journalists’ association.[‘
Stating that the work done by the journalists’ association is immense and the Canacona journalists’ concern for the society is evident through this camp, councilor Hemant Naik Gaonkar assured that he will provide whatever support the journalists’ association needs.
Dr. Desai, ‘From now on, we will provide services in Canacona one day a week and will provide an E.C.G. machine free of cost to check the heart patients.
