PONDA: Ponda Police have registered an Unnatural Death (UD) case after a 67-year-old man was found dead early Monday morning following a fall from a residential building in Daag, Ponda.
According to police, SDH Ponda informed them at 2:01 am on December 8 that the victim, Jayant Joshi, a resident of Gogal Housing Board Road, Vidyanagar, Margao, had been brought dead by a 108 ambulance from Rajdurga Heritage Building, Daag.
During enquiry, police spoke to family members who stated that Joshi had been staying at his sister’s flat in Daag for the past six months.
They informed that he had been undergoing treatment for psychiatric illness. Police were told that around 10:34 pm on December 7, he fell from the fifth floor of the building, resulting in fatal injuries.
A scene panchanama and inquest were conducted, and the body was sent for postmortem. The Police Surgeon certified the cause of death as “damage to vertebrae, chest, abdomen and both feet consequent to blunt force impact.”
The body has been handed over to the family for final rites.
Further enquiry is being conducted by PSI Ashish Velip of Ponda Police Station under UD No. 88/2025.
