COLVA: A 67-year-old woman from Bihar, identified as Maya Devi, passed away while on vacation with her family in Colva, South Goa. According to police, the incident came to light after Valenkanni Cottages in Colva informed authorities that the woman was found lying unconscious in her room and was rushed to the South Goa District Hospital (SGDH) in Margao. During the inquiry, it was revealed by family members present at the hospital that the deceased had a history of medical illness and suffered from epilepsy.
The family had reportedly arrived in Colva from Bihar for a holiday. On the day of the incident, Maya Devi had complained of fatigue and gone to sleep. The following morning, when her husband attempted to wake her, she was found unresponsive and was immediately taken to SGDH, where doctors declared her brought dead.
An inquest panchanama was conducted, and a post-mortem examination was carried out. The police surgeon opined the cause of death as “aspiration pneumonitis in a person with history of epileptic disorder.” Following the examination, the body was handed over to the family for final rites. The enquiry was conducted by LPSI Raksha Naik of Colva Police Station.
