PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that 6810 CCTV Cameras have been mapped under “Project Netra” at 1335 locations/places of North Goa and South Goa District.
“6810 CCTV Cameras have been mapped under “Project Netra” at 1335 locations/places of North Goa and South Goa District and as it involved only mapping of CCTV cameras no expenditure is incurred from State exchequer,” said Sawant
He further said that Mapping of cameras has been done, however no legal mandate has been passed for providing footage.
““Project Netra” is an initiative about mapping of CCTVs and not installation. Hence, Nil”
Sawant also said that several cases at the Police Stations of North and South Districts have been detected by using CCTV footage and other available technical resources and equipment’s.
“Furnishing such data of cases is inappropriate as it may contravene with the functioning/provisions of law and can also hamper process of investigation or prosecution of offenders, safety of source of information, etc” he added
