Panaji:
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Tuesday took the heads of departments to task at the Vigilance
awareness week wherein he said the Goans are deprived of basic necessities like toilets while the outsiders get everything on the platter.
Speaking at a function organised at the secretariat, the Chief Minister said that the harassment of the common man has to stop.
“Even after 60 years post independence Goans are still deprived of basic necessities of toilet, electricity and water,” Sawant said.
He said that thus is due to ineffective implementation of the govt schemes by the bureaucracy.
“Harassment of common man should stop,” he asserted. CM also lauded the Veterinary department for encouraging people and helping them take up poultry farming.
The Chief Minister said that the websites of 70 to 80 of the 150 odd govt departments are not working.
“I had to tell Chief Secretary to inform the departments to update their websites. This is the responsibility of heads of dept and not CS and CM,” asserted Sawant.
He also slammed govt officials for dereliction in duties.
“Some govt staff are not even coming to office and HoDs don’t even bother to ask them. I can name the HODs if the need be,” he said.
