CANACONA: A 71-year-old British national was found dead in his room at a resort in Patnem, Canacona, early Wednesday morning.
According to Canacona Police, the deceased, identified as Nigel John Denton, had been staying at the resort with his partner since December 3. At around 7:30 am, his partner noticed that Denton was unresponsive while he was asleep. He was immediately shifted to the Canacona Community Health Centre (CHC) in a 108 ambulance, where the attending doctor declared him brought dead.
CHC medical officials informed the police, following which an occurrence panchanama was conducted at the site. Police stated that Denton had a history of diabetes and hypertension and was on medication.
The body has been taken into custody by police and sent to South Goa District Hospital (SGDH), Margao for preservation and further medico-legal procedures.
A case of Unnatural Death (UD) has been registered under Section 194 of BNSS 2023. Further inquiry is being conducted by PSI Ajit Velip of the Canacona Police Station.
