COLVA: A 72-year-old man was found dead by suicide in his hotel room at Colva on Tuesday evening.
Police said they received a call at around 5:18 pm from 108 ambulance staff informing that Claristo Pinto, a resident of Hotel Colva Plaza at Per Seraulim, Colva, had hanged himself using a cloth dupatta tied to a metal hook on the wall.
Officers visited the scene, conducted a panchanama, and later referred the body for post-mortem examination. Police surgeons confirmed the cause of death as “asphyxia as a result of hanging.”
The body was handed over to Pinto’s family after the autopsy for final rites. Further inquiry is being carried out by LPSI Varshda Naik Dessai of Colva Police Station.
