PANAJI: In a sustained effort to curb illegal immigration, Goa Police on Friday disclosed that 77 foreign nationals who had overstayed their visas were deported between January 1 and June 27 this year.
According to FRRO Superintendent of Police Arshi Aadil, those deported included 32 men and 45 women from multiple countries, with the highest numbers coming from Russia, Uganda, and Bangladesh. Among the men deported were 13 Russians, 12 Bangladeshis, and one each from Uganda, Nigeria, Poland, Morocco, Britain, Ukraine, and Mauritius.
The women included 17 Ugandans, 14 Bangladeshis, 12 Russians, and one each from Britain, Ukraine, Belarus, and Argentina.
Goa Police emphasized that these enforcement measures would continue to safeguard India’s security interests.
North Goa Superintendent of Police and PRO Rahul Gupta called on accommodation providers to ensure they promptly submit C-Forms through the government portal (https://indianfrro.gov.in) within 24 hours of hosting foreign guests.
He also urged the public to alert local police if they become aware of any foreigners overstaying in their neighborhoods, stressing that such vigilance is key to preserving law and order.
The crackdown forms part of the ongoing “Operation Flush Out” campaign, which has seen 56 enforcement actions in the past six months alone, with 35 of those occurring in May and June.
The drive targets not only those overstaying illegally but also foreign nationals involved in criminal activities. Gupta affirmed that the operation will persist, highlighting the government’s commitment—under the directives of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Director General of Police Alok Kumar—to ensuring that visitors respect India’s laws and cultural values.
