SALIGAO: An 80-year-old man living alone was found dead at his residence in Don Waddo, Saligao, on Thursday evening.
Police said they received a phone call at 6:29 pm from Mrs. Magret D’Souza, a neighbour, who reported that the man had not been seen outside his home for the past two days. A team led by PSI David Costa visited the site and, with the assistance of the Fire Services, broke open the door of the house.
Inside, the deceased, identified as Albert Fernandes (80), resident of H. No. 657, Don Waddo, Saligao, was found lying dead on his bed.
Preliminary enquiry revealed that Fernandes was a senior citizen residing alone. Police conducted the scene of unnatural death occurrence panchnama and inquest proceedings in the presence of panch witnesses.
The body has been preserved at the GMC Morgue, Bambolim, for further procedures. Investigation is in progress.
