Panaji: As part of the Fire Prevention Week celebrations, the Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services, Government of Goa, in association with Nestlé India Ltd., Usgao, successfully conducted the 8th All-Goa School Fire Safety Quiz Competition on April 16, 2025. The event was held at the Main Auditorium, Institute of Menezes Braganza Hall, Panaji, and aimed to raise awareness among students about general knowledge and fire safety.
The competition saw enthusiastic participation from 66 students representing 33 schools across Goa, creating a dynamic platform for learning and engagement. The event’s Chief Guest, Shri Nitin V. Raiker, Director of the Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services, emphasized the importance of instilling fire safety awareness at a young age. “This competition is more than a test of knowledge—it is an investment in a safer future,” he stated, encouraging students to view fire safety as a vital life skill.
Also in attendance were Shri Rajendra Haldankar, Deputy Director (Fire), Shri Pundalik Parab, Deputy Director (Administration), Shri Manmohan Dhar, Factory Manager, Nestlé India Ltd., Usgao, and Shri Sanjay Bandare, Head – Corporate Affairs (West Region), Nestlé India Ltd., along with other senior officials.
The quiz was conducted by the lively and engaging Dr. Wilson Vaz, whose role as Quiz Master kept the audience captivated. Interactive rounds, including questions for the audience and spot prizes, added to the excitement and involvement.
Competition Results:
• First Place: G. S. Amonkar Vidya Mandir, Mapusa
• Second Place: Bhatikar Model High School, Margao
• Third Place: The King’s School, Margao
• Runner-Up: Saraswat Vidhyalaya, Mapusa
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Shri Shripad Gawas, Divisional Officer, North Zone, who commended the efforts of all contributors, participants, and supporting institutions.
The Directorate expressed sincere gratitude to Nestlé India Ltd. for their continued support and to the participating schools and educators. The overwhelming appreciation from students and teachers highlighted the event’s impact, reinforcing the critical role of education in promoting safety, preparedness, and community responsibility.
