Panaji: The Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), in collaboration with the Department of Public Health Dentistry at Goa Dental College and Hospital, will host the 8th edition of the Goa Anti-Tobacco Film Festival on May 31, 2026. The festival aims to raise awareness about the dangers of tobacco consumption through impactful ad films while promoting the art of filmmaking via non-commercial screenings.
The theme for this year is “Unmasking the Appeal: Countering Nicotine & Tobacco Addiction.” Filmmakers can submit their entries in two categories: the Goa section and the national section.
For the Goa section, entries are open to Goan producers, production houses, students, individuals, and educational or social institutions. Films can be in Konkani, Marathi, Hindi, or English, must include English subtitles, and should not exceed two minutes in duration.
The national section welcomes submissions from Indian filmmakers, production houses, students, individuals, or educational and social institutions. Films must be in Hindi or English, carry English subtitles, and adhere to the two-minute limit.
Registrations close on April 17, 2026, while the last date for submitting films is May 13, 2026. Prize money for the Goa section ranges from ₹20,000 to ₹50,000, while the national section offers prizes between ₹30,000 and ₹1,00,000.
This initiative continues ESG’s commitment to combining creative expression with public health advocacy, encouraging filmmakers to highlight the harmful effects of tobacco use through innovative storytelling.
