PANAJI: Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHE) today declared that 99.40 % of the HSSC students passed in the results declared on Monday evening, much higher than the 89.27 in the previous year
Out of the 18,195 students that were for the HSSC, 18,085 passed. A mere 75 students failed. As per information, 99.39 percent cleared Arts stream, 99.66 percent passed Commerce streams, 99.68 passed while 98.51 passed the vocational stream.
“This time the HSSC exams were cancelled and the results were declared based on objective criteria. This time the pass percentage of 99.40 percent is the highest as compared to 89.27 percent last year,” said GBSHE Chairman Bhagirath Shetye
As per information, from the 9008 boys, 8922 passed taking the pass percentage to 95.05 percent. In terms of 0187 girls 9163 passed taking the total percentage to 99.74 percent.
Further, 75 students scored 33 percent, 860 students scored in the range of 46-59 percent, 9682 scored 60-80 percent and 1960 students scored in 81-100 percent.
Shetye further said that of the 75 students that failed are eligible for supplementary examination. The schools were directed to submit the marks based on internal assessment to the Board,” he said.
Shetye had said that the students will be assessed out of maximum 100 marks for each subject and as the policy of the Board, 20 marks are for Internal Assessment and the same is been submitted by the schools till May 15.
“Any students who are not happy with their marks can approach the board and they will be given permission to appear for offline examination,” Shetye added
Shetye said that the schools will conduct an objective type offline/online Supplementary Examination based on the Sample Question papers provided by the Board for those students whose overall result is with the remark ‘need improvement’.
He said that all unsuccessful regular candidates and regular candidates who were unable to appear for main examination are also eligible for supplementary examination.
“Supplementary examination will be conducted by the Board for those candidates who are placed in “Needs Improvement” category or who have withdrawn their application forms as and when conditions are favorable to conduct the Examination,” he added
Private/ITI candidates/ Repeater candidate and candidates applying for improvement of marks shall have to answer board examination as and when the situation is favorable to conduct the Examination.
No Policy of Verification of Marks/ Providing Photocopy of Answer Books/Re-evaluation.
The Goa education board, which cancelled its Class 12 final exams this year, had formulated a scheme for finalising the results of students based on their internal assessment conducted by schools during the academic year and an objective criterion developed by the board.
The board, in view of the increasing COVID-19 cases in Goa, the Class 10 examinations, which were supposed to be held this year were cancelled.
Any candidate who is not satisfied with the marks allotted will be given an opportunity to appear in an exam as and when conditions are conducive to hold the exam, according to the scheme.
