PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said 99 per cent preparations have been done for the 37th National Games in Goa.
CM Pramod Sawant along with Sports Minister Govind Gaude, Chief Secretary and other officials today inspected the Shyamaprasad Mukherjee Stadium at Taleigao Plateau.
“99 per cent preparations have been done for the 37th National Games in Goa and by October 15 all the venues will be handed over to us,” said CM Sawant after inspection.
He further said that review is continuously being taken of the contractors and agencies involved in the preparations for the National Games.
“We are 100 percent on time. National Games Goa will be unique. All preparations are also done in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Goa,” he added.
In addition, Sawant said that he will examine the Campal Sports Complex, the Peddem Sports Complex, the Manohar Parrikar Indoor Stadium in Navelim, and the Nehru Stadium in Fatorda.
“We have assembled whatever infrastructure was required. The state has made every effort. Goa is hosting 41 of the 43 disciplines, with the exception of two competitions (golf and cycling), which are taking place in Delhi,” he added.
Sawant said that with state-of-the-art infrastructure developed for the National Games, we invite sports associations and national federations to utilize these facilities year-round.
“Our objective is to elevate sports in Goa to new heights.” he said.
Sports Minister Govind Gaude said that has been touring the locations over the past two days.
“Our goal is not just to promote participation but to ignite a passion for sports in every individual, from every corner of our diverse nation. Together, we will make the 37th National Games an event to remember, a symbol of unity, and a stepping stone for the future of sports in India.” he added.
