Upon being informed, Vasco police rushed to the site and began a primary investigation into the incident
The incident came to light after a girl visiting her house saw the lady lying in the pool of blood and informed the neighbours who later alerted the Vasco police
A relative Harish Verenkar said that the deceased lady lived alone in the house
“She is my mother’s sister and around 70 years of age. She would live alone in this house and come to our house once in a few days or once in a month. I got a call that someone had stabbed her with a knife and I rushed to the site and after I came here and saw that she was dead and the knife was also lying there in the house. She was murdered and we are not sure about who killed her and what was the intention behind the incident. We are not even sure if there was some robbery attempt and as per what I saw, the belongings at there in the house ” said Verenkar.
A neighbour said that he also got to know of the murder only after a girl raised an alarm
“Our family had gone to a wedding in the morning and we just returned. I had turned on the TV and watched the cricket match when a girl came running informing me about a lady lying dead in the house. We were neighbours and shared a cordial relationship and I am not sure when the incident may have occurred since our family had gone to a wedding,” said the neighbour.
One Shilpa Patil said that she had come to her house in the morning and the lady was in the house
“There are two doors to her house and I had come in the morning at around 11 am and she was at home. However, when I came in the evening, the doors were open and I was shocked to see her in the pool of blood and I raised an alarm. My elder sister used to work at her place and she left here. My father however told me to keep a watch on her since she was a senior citizen and staying alone. I would therefore come to her house to check on her,” said Patel.
