MORMUGAO: A month after an official inauguration of the state-of-the-art swimming pool project in Headland Sada, the swimming pool remains underutilised. The assurances given by the Sports Minister are yet to be implemented.
A state-of-the-art swimming pool project, which was the dream project of the former Urban Development Minister Milind Naik, was recently inaugurated by the Sports Minister of Goa, Govind Gaude. Prior to the inauguration, he, along with the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs officials, Vasco MLA and the Mormugao municipality councillors had inspected this mega project.
During the inspection, Minister Gaude had promised and suggested specific add-ons to the existing project, such as installation of green mash fencing to the entire project to block the view of the residents from the adjacent building. He then had also pointed out to place the staff at the swimming pool for its maintenance and operation. A committee was also supposed to be formed for the operation of this project, but to date, nothing seems to be happening on the ground.
When contacted Ajay Gaude, Director of Sports and Youth Affairs, he said that very soon, the suggestions mentioned by the Sports Minister will be implemented. The process of appointing staff for the Swimming pool project at Sada is in the pipeline. The swimming pool will be operational shortly,” he added.
It may be recalled that on (May 17), Minister for Sports Govind Gaude, along with Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar, inspected the Sada swimming pool project. The swimming pool was inaugurated on May 30.
During the inspection, Minister Gaude had said that the swimming pool project at Sada is ready and it will be open to the public by May 30.
Minister Gaude had also assured that the additional staff to maintain this pool would be put. Green mash fencing will be put to block the views of the opposite buildings towards the swimming pool. He had also mentioned that a committee would be formed to maintain this pool.
