Panaji: Aam Aadmi Party Goa convener Rahul Mhambre along with other AAP leaders
has submitted a memorandum to North Goa SP Shobit Saxena on Thursday demanding that the gullible mastermind behind the Souza Lobo case be arrested.
While addressing the media Mhambre said, “At present, the Goa Police has arrested three individuals in connection with this case. Nevertheless, the police need to take swift action and arrest the mastermind responsible for the Calangute incident. In addition, they should determine if any politicians are involved.”
“The law-and-order situation in Goa has definitely deteriorated in the past months. There have been a series of crimes in the past months that attest to lawlessness rising in the State. This – the rise in crime – is a failure of the government and the law enforcing machinery in protecting the citizens. The niz Goenkars have lost confidence, and Pramod Sawant’s government ought to restore it”, he said.
He further said, “It can be recalled that for the third time, the iconic Souza Lobo restaurant located on the Calangute beach was attacked by around 50 people with stones, swords, knives, bottles and damaged property. Six people sustained minor injuries while three sustained severe injuries and are undergoing treatment at the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Bambolim”.
He added, “In the guise of promoting tourism, Goa CM permits EDM festivals that hope not to end up becoming covid spreader events. But when it comes to protecting the interests of Goenkar in the tourism sector he maintains silence. I strongly condemn the attack on Souza Lobo and the rest of the people and the inaction of Sawant.
AAP leader Sudesh Mayekar said, “The MLA of Calangute says that this incident is a quarrel between two businessmen. By making such a statement, the Calangute MLA is trying to save the criminal”.
