PANAJI: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday filed 27 Zilla Panchayat (ZP) nominations across Goa in a single day, showcasing what the party described as strong organisational mobilisation ahead of the upcoming polls. Nominations were filed at multiple locations including Panjim, Bicholim, Pernem, Mapusa, Margao, Sattari, Dharbandora and Quepem, with senior leaders accompanying candidates.
AAP leaders claimed the party has been the only one consistently on the ground over the past 20 days, conducting door-to-door outreach and public engagement. They asserted that the election has effectively become a direct contest between the BJP and AAP.
Speaking after accompanying candidates from Raia, Benaulim, Colva, Navelim and Guirdolim at the South Goa Collectorate, MLA Capt. Venzy Viegas alleged that BJP-backed officials were “showing bias” during nomination scrutiny. “It is now very clear—this ZP election is BJP vs AAP in Goa,” he said, adding that volunteers had already completed extensive campaigning.
AAP working president Valmiki Naik, who filed nominations for the Keri and Nagargao ZP constituencies in Sattari, criticised what he termed “family raj” in the region. “Sattari has become a story of a Raja and Rani. AAP will end this family raj once and for all,” he said, urging voters to back the party’s candidates.
State president Adv. Amit Palekar, who attended nomination filings in Mapusa for Reis Magos, Calangute, Anjuna, Siolim and Penha de França, said AAP was fielding young and educated candidates unlike other parties. “BJP is only interested in furthering family raj. AAP stands for merit and public service,” he said.
At the South Goa Collectorate, AAP working president Gerson Gomes praised the ground-level enthusiasm among volunteers, saying the response indicated that “Goa is ready for change.”
With 27 nominations submitted in a single day, AAP said it has demonstrated strong preparedness and reiterated its commitment to clean politics and people-centric governance.
