PANJIM: A delegation led by AAP Convenor Elvis Gomes today submitted highlights of the model adopted by the Kejriwal Govt that was proving to be successful so far that had begun with the 5Ts ‘testing, tracing treatment, teamwork and tracking and monitoring ‘.
Speaking to media, Gomes said that in his discussion with the CM he had emphasised on teamwork that had brought huge positive results despite all constraints and called upon him to engage with everyone who matters.
“I told the CM at the outset that there are a lot of other issues to fight over. But fight against Covid had to be united. That’s what Kejriwal did in Delhi and is now showing signs of success. I also told him that BJP can take all the credit if Goans will get better treatment” said Gomes stating that discrimination shown in distribution of ‘immunity booster’ pills by BJP volunteers was a pointer in what he meant .
Gomes further said that the main feature of covid management by Kejriwal had turned out to be ‘home isolation’ which AAP had been demanding and expressed happiness that the Government had adopted the same. But he said that the ‘home isolation’ SOP issued by the government was heavily loaded against the patient and the care giver with little clarity about medical attention to the patient.
Giving an example, Gomes said that patient was forced to purchase pulse oxymeter, thermometer, masks and other requirements which he said would add to the burden on the patient particularly the common man. He said that counselling of patients, medical advice upon getting lab reports, helping with groceries apart from regular monitoring of the patients did not figure in the SOP with clarity.
He said that SOP on home isolation needed revision to incorporate various features available in the Delhi model which are favouring the patient. Gomes said that he informed the CM that AAP was committed to render assistance to the government in any capacity that the party was able to.
Meanwhile Gomes said that he also took up the issue of destruction of Mollem national park and wildlife sanctuary over which the youth of Goa have been raising their voices. Pointing to Malisa Simoes, Matanhy Saldanha’s niece, who was part of the delegation, Gomes said that she represented the Party’s concerns over the projects that the state and the central governments were pushing against the will of the people.
“I pointed that such projects would have been opposed had Matanhy been alive as they are set to cause irreversible damage to the unique heritage of our forests. Malisa told CM to engage with the agitating youth” said Gomes
General Secretary of AAP, Pradeep Padgaonkar was also part of the delegation.
