PANAJI: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Goa on Wednesday launched a statewide door-to-door signature campaign under its ‘BJP Che Burak’ initiative, demanding urgent repairs of pothole-ridden roads across the state.
Citing reports that nearly 50% of road accident deaths in Goa are caused by bad roads, AAP Goa president Adv. Amit Palekar called it a “public safety emergency.” He said potholes had become “silent killers” that continue to claim lives due to government negligence.
“We urge the authorities to give Goans safe and reliable roads. They are not a luxury but a basic right. Enough of corruption — timely repairs will save lives,” Palekar said.
AAP vice president Sunil Signapurkar demanded accountability for crores of rupees spent on pre-monsoon pothole-filling tenders. “Where has all the taxpayers’ money gone, and where are the results?” he asked.
General secretary (organisation) Shrikrishna Parab said the campaign would cover every village in Goa. “We, along with 16 lakh Goans, will compel the government to fix every road in the state,” he declared.
The campaign letter, endorsed by citizens across Goa, will be submitted to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, the party said.
AAP urged residents to join the drive, saying it stands committed to transparent governance and prioritising the welfare of Goans.
