PANAJI: After feeling humiliated by the Pramod Sawant-led administration, the Aam Admi Party (AAP) in Goa on Wednesday pledged to support Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar of the Goa Legislative Assembly if he resigns from his position and the House.
In a recent press conference, Tawadkar expressed his dissatisfaction with the lack of respect he received as Speaker of the House. He claimed that when ministers made disparaging remarks about him in public, they were degrading him.
Following his resignation from the BJP, Francis Coelho, the general secretary of the AAP Goa, stated at a press conference that he personally wants Tawadkar to join the party.
“Tawadkar has the audacity to criticize his own administration. The administration has been exposed by him. We urge him to step down as Speaker and MLA and run in the next election,” he said.
They are prepared to back Tawadkar in his by-election, Coelho declared.
