Panaji: AAP Goa launched a a protest as the petrol price touched 100 INR per ltr in Goa today. The AAP Goa leaders along with supporters held a rally near the Old Secretariat in Panaji & one more at the Old Bus Stand,Margao. The aim was to address the Strong message against the spiralling rise in the increase of petrol and cooking gas prices. In the rally people dressed as Pramod Sawant offered cake to Goans filling petrol to “celebrate” Pramod Sawant’s century.
Addressing the media during the protest AAP Goa State Convenor Rahul Mhambre said “Never before have Goans seen such an increase in petrol price which has hit 100 INR per liter and cooking gas which has touched 900 INR. These hikes have broken the backs of every Goan.
Yesterday BJP in their press conference admitted that there is a huge increase in the number of people falling below the poverty line. Earlier the figure was 30000 under BPL in Goa, which has now touched 5 lakh i.e from 3% of Goas population to 1/3rd of Goas population today. This signifies the reality behind the propaganda around the development and growth BJP has been spewing in Goa and how every household in Goa is on the brink of financial collapse.
“It is very evident that when AAP announced about giving free Electricity to the Goans BJP seems to have been completely rattled. Promod sawant and the BJP Government has completely trampled the vision that our late CM Manohar Parrikar had for Goa as well as the vision of the late Shri Dayanand Bandodkar who had built the foundation of Goa with a vision for a pro-people of Goa” added Rahul Mhambre.
“BJP in 2012 said that Goa will get petrol at 60 rs per liter and today it has reached 100 marking the century in petrol price. The actual rate of petrol is around 30-40 rs per liter but the tax is 75% because of which the petrol price has touched 100 rs in goa. BJP who said in their manifesto that they will provide petrol for rs 60 per liter are now charging goans rs 60 as tax on petrol.” said Valmiki Naik AAP Goa leader.
